Every day my husband tells my 6 year old daughter: “Make today your masterpiece!” She loves it, it is their “thing”.
Last Thursday, a family friend passed away too soon at the young age of 46. He was amazing and lived life to the fullest. Yesterday, it finally hit me and I was not OK. I mourned his family’s loss and wasted an entire day feeling sorry for myself. I laid around and felt the physical toll of my emotional state. But, I knew that he would not want this. So, I told myself last night before bed that I was allowed that 1 day. That was IT.
Today, this saying stuck with me. I, too, can take this awesome advice. But, what does it mean?
Like everything, I googled the quote. Shockingly (lol), it was not my husband’s own.
“Be true to yourself.
Make each day your masterpiece.
Drink deeply from good books.
Make friendship a fine art.
Build a shelter against a rainy day.
Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.”
Here is my takeaway….
Today is a masterpiece because I am alive. Today is a masterpiece because I acknowledged that I am human and have emotions. Today is a masterpiece because I helped another and received her gratitude. Today is a masterpiece because I am loved. Today is a masterpiece because I am thankful. Today is my masterpiece because I will share happiness.
What will you do to make today your masterpiece?
