Unless you are living under a rock, you know what’s happening in the world right now.
If you’re feeling anxious, worried or simply “out of control”, you’re not alone. Everyone is feeling it too. 😩
But, what can you do?
Aside from me telling you “just take it one day at a time”, which I think is good advice, because this situation is literally evolving “one day at a time”, there are some things you can do!
We know that a toxic mind leads to a toxic body leads to toxic thoughts and toxic actions. So……
Find the positive. What’s happened because of this that is good? Are you connecting with your partner more? Did you finally get that junk drawer cleaned out? Are you actually using your new stationery bike?
Stay in gratitude. Every day, doesn’t matter what time, write down 5 things you are grateful for. The blue sky, your family, your warm house. If you struggle, start with the ABCs (this can be helpful for insomniacs, too). For example: A – avocados, B – bath salts, C – chocolate.
Practice Self Care. Drink yo water! Move your body. Get outside and get some Vitamin D. Feed your body good nutrition. They truly will help lower your anxiety.
Relaxation Techniques. Guided Imagery (think: you on a beach), Progressive Muscle Relaxation (squeeze/relax different body parts), and Deep Breathing (hand on abdomen, count on the inhale, say “relax” on the exhale). See my video for more info!
Help others. Watching people work the ‘front lines’ making you feel helpless? Figuring out a way to help will give you a sense of purpose. Does an elderly neighbor need groceries? Who do you know that needs a phone call from a friend? How can you support a local business right now?
I hope this made you feel just a little bit better! ONE DAY AT A TIME, my friends.
